The 2019 annual Hawaii Woodshow inside Moanalua Garden's Chinese Hall. Built in 1903 under the direction of Moanalua Gardens founder Samual Mills Damon, the structure has never before been used for a public event, until now only hosting weddings and other private events. The inside was a breath taking visual surprise with its detailed intricate carvings mostly around the large windows. There are about 60 items displayed from a very wide selection of Hawaii grown woods including Koa, Mango, Kamani, Milo, Norfolk Pine, Monkeypod, Macadamia Nut, and Kiawe. All of the artwork is stunning and within the hal itself, a lot to take in. It makes for a delightful side trip within the city limits.
